What to Do

Activities

Bridge Fishing  – bring your own gear or consider doing a bridge fishing charter! We LOVE bridge fishing because it’s so much more than fishing! You’ll get to see all sorts of wildlife – our last time bridge fishing we saw a huge stingray and a sea turtle.

LandBoat Charters – fishthebridges.com

Fishing Charters – there are a TON of fishing charter boats in Marathon, and rightfully so – there are so many fish to catch! Inshore or offshore, a day spent on the water is a good day. Because there are many amazing fishing charters, be sure to check reviews online and book the one you feel like best suits your needs.

Snorkel/Sandbar Tours – we always say getting out on the water is the best way to experience the Keys!

Aqua Leisure Boat Tours

Dolphin Research Center – fun for all ages, get up close and personal with dolphins and learn all about them. We have enjoyed numerous trip to this unique facility. Check online for dolphin encounter times and options – we highly recommend booking one of these to make your visit truly memorable!

Turtle Hospital – learn all about the amazing sea turtles that live in the Keys, and meet turtles that are currently being rehabilitated. This is a great option for older kids, preteens, teens and adults. Smaller children will likely not have the attention span for this.

Aquarium Encounters – interactive aquatic experiences for all ages, plus you can book additional encounters with stingrays, nurse sharks, or a snorkel experience with reef fish.

Beaches

Key Colony Beach – as our guest you have passes to Cabana Club Hotel & Resort, where you can enjoy the beach (lounge chairs & umbrellas), heated pool, hot tub, and fitness center. Havana Jack’s is right next door for food and drinks while you enjoy the beach.

Sunset Park, Key Colony Beach – just head to the west end of Ocean Drive right here in the neighborhood for the best sunset close to home. You can walk, ride a bike or jump in the car. A great way to end the day and a very memorable part of every trip to Key Colony Beach and the Florida Keys.

Sombrero Beach – a local favorite, this popular beach has public restrooms and a playground.

Coco Plum Beach – this beautiful beach has public restrooms, is a little less crowded and a little more natural.

Bahia Honda State Park  – there is a great beach here, but our favorite thing to do is rent kayaks and paddle around to the south side of the park, where there is a more secluded natural beach. There is a little island visible from the beach here called Little Conch Island. If the water is calm, kayak over and explore!

State Parks

Curry Hammock State Park – rent kayaks and paddle out to the sandbar and through the mangroves – this is a fantastic way to spend the afternoon!
